Fall Makeup | Go to Tips and Tricks for Cooler Months

fall makeup tips

In the fall and winter months I like to amp up the glam. In Guam this is a transition because it is warm all year long with a rainy season. Back home in California the weather did get a bit cooler during the autumn and winter months even though there aren't true seasonings there either. I still thought I'd share with you some of my go to tricks for the fall season.

Let's get started!

Simple but bold

Simple but bold looks are perfect for the season. You can achieve this by keeping the skin fresh. Start by applying a bb or cc cream to the skin and use concealer only in problem areas. Then set the skin with translucent powder. Add blush and highlighter to brighten the skin and give a nice glow.

For the eyes take one bold eyeshadow and apply it with your finger all over the lid, then take a blending brush, and blend in the crease of your eyes as well as the bottom lash line. Curl your lashes, add mascara to the top and bottom. Add your favorite neutral lip gloss or balm then you are out the door.

Looks like this don't take much time but give beautiful results. You can transition this look from day to night simply by adding a deeper color shadow to the outer corner of your eyes, then blend. Next, change your lip color to something matte or a gloss deeper in tone.

Complexion focus

Keeping the skin moisturized before makeup application is always important, especially when temperatures start to drop. Add moisturizer to your skin and allow it to fully absorb before applying makeup to ensure you are keeping your skin in the best condition. When using a moisturizer it is not necessary to use a primer as well. If your skin is exceptionally dry and a matte foundation is all you have on hand try using a hydrating primer after moisturizer to help balance your skin.

Make sure to check the ingredients in all products so that the primer and foundation are not in competition with each other. Water based products should be used with water based products and the same goes for oil based. Oil and water mixtures tend to separate on the skin, since they don't mix.

Fall Activities and makeup

During the fall there are many festivals and halloween events. I enjoy face painting and creating fun looks for the season. It is a great time to try out new fun things with makeup. When it comes to halloween application make sure all ingredients are safe for your skin. Not all products should be used all over the face. Stick with makeup that is intended to be applied to the skin, when it comes to the eyes especially.

I like to use pro water based FX makeup because it last on the skin and it is easier to work with.

Costumes

DIY costumes are the best! Making a costume out of materials around the house and incorporating some kind of head gear is the way to go. Adding a nice makeup look with that is a way to save a little money but also a way to use your creative side.

Hope you are enjoying the change of season…for those of you who have one lol! I planned on doing
"how to" looks using FX paints but I'm still currently transitioning from my move. With that being said most of my household stuff has still not arrived. Fingers crossed I'll be up and running soon but until then I'm a bit limited on doing certain looks.

Thanks for hanging out!
XO Terreana
