Perfect Red Ombre Lips

Ombre Lips are an easy way to step out of your comfort zone with color.  They are not going anywhere anytime soon. You can do subtle to more dramatic Ombre Lips. It is all preference. This is one way I like to do them.

Let’s play in makeup!

Materials

Lip Gloss or Balm
2 Matte Lipsticks of choice (1 light, 1 darker tone)
Lipstick Brush
Concealer (in your skin tone) (optional)
Makeup Wipes

Steps

1. Start by prepping your lips with gloss. Gloss really hugs the lips and provides good moisture. My favorite gloss to wear is C.O. Bigelow, Mentha Lip Shine.

2. Wipe off the gloss and line your lips with the darker tone lipstick on the top and bottom lip, leaving the center bare. I’m using a Matte Lippie Stix by Colourpop in Trust Me.

3. Now fill in the center of your Lips with the lighter color. It is ok if the lighter color mixes with the darker color a bit. For the center of my lips I’m using another Colourpop Matte Lippie Stix in Upside Down.

4. Take the Lip Brush and lightly feather the light color into the darker color. Repeat this step by adding a little more of the darker tone until you achieve a nice gradient effect. The lip brush I use is a bit wider than normal. I like using a wider lip brush because it fits my lips better. Feel free to use whatever brush you are comfortable with. You can also do this step with your clean finger.

5. This step is optional. Take your makeup wipe and thoroughly wipe off your lip brush. Take that same brush and apply a little concealer around your lips. Blend out the concealer. This step helps to prevent your lipstick from traveling. Most matte lipsticks don’t have an issue with traveling. I only do this step if I need to wear my lipstick for a long period of time.

*If your lipstick doesn’t completely set, add a little translucent powder on top to help with longevity.

Ombre Lips are so fun to do! Try out different color combinations and see what you come up with.

Thanks for hanging out!
