Hydro Grip Primer by Milk Makeup Review

Sephora had their VIB sale some time ago and I normally take advantage of it. Ok…let’s be honest…I always take advantage of it. I normally refill old faves and try a few new products that grab my attention. Milk Makeup’s Hydro Grip primer is a “new to me” product. I have seen it raved about on socials so much that I had to give it a try.

Try on

I first tried the primer under the Bounce Foundation by Beautyblender Foundation. I’ve been using that a lot lately so I thought it would be a good foundation to test it with. I also tried it with I Am Magic Foundation by Juvia’s Place and it worked beautifully as well.

It goes on very smooth and light. It feels amazing on the skin like a gel. I would say a small amount of primer works best. I did allow the primer to set as instructed by the brand. Each time I applied the primer with my fingers.

Minor con

The only issue I had was when I placed translucent powder on top to set it prior to adding the foundation. It was just an unnecessary layer of product on my skin. The foundation looked a bit cakey.

The primer holds up well in Guam heat without the use of anything additional. I have oily skin so that’s a plus. Blotting throughout the day is pretty much all I need to refresh my foundation.

Final thoughts

I really like this primer and I will continue using it. Now, with Covid-19 I had to push a lot of reviews because I wasn’t outside to test them. I’ve been using this primer for a few months and I really like how it makes my skin look and it feels hydrating and cool on the skin.

Thanks for hanging out!
